A delightful carved basswood art [iece created in 1998 by artist George Updegraff of Laguna Beach, CA. This carving is in the bas-relief style he was taught in Salzburg, Austria while on a leave of absence from the exceptionally early computer industry in 1973. Being taught by master carver Walter Meierhoffer, Updegraff would become so good at it that he returned to the states and made it his full time job. This smaller piece was made later in his career and features moving parts as both the mother and infant can swivel. Stands about 7.5" tall. (NOTE: for authentication purposes I have added photos of signatures on three other pieces.)
