Winter hardy.
Shade - part shade (I notice my do notably better in morning sun and afternoon shade).
Prefers moist, organic soil; Water after planting. Mulch lightly.
Emerges in early spring, growing quickly and producing strings of puffy, heart-shaped blooms that attract humming birds and bees alike throughout the month of May (bloom time is shortened by warmer weather).
Foliage dies back in the in-demand summer months.
