The tender fruit is delicious fresh with a highly fragrant lemon-guava flavor, and is also used to make drinks, ice creams and desserts. Pretty clusters of frilly white flowers in the spring and in warmer climates sometimes reblooming again in the fall. Native to Eastern Brazil it has naturalized in many tropical countries. Said to be hardy down to 22 degrees once woody and well established. Also can be grown and fruited in containers and brought inside in colder climates.
